Astrid Bauer, 41 Orchard owner
She reads the weather aloud as if it were gossip.
Orchard owner. I read the sky out loud. Ladders and pears provided, opinions free.
Astrid is a fictional adult, drawn up by an AI model. Her land is part of a story, no wages change hands, and nobody can be hired.
Her almanac
Between jobs
- Names her goats after weather fronts.
- Never picks the topmost pear of the oldest tree.
- Checks the sky before her phone.
What she needs done
- A ladder partner with patience.
- A night of cider and no frost warnings.
Where she draws the fence
- Won't spray what she wouldn't eat.
- Dislikes being hurried at picking.
How she gives orders
Light, quick, runs sentences together with 'and' then catches herself. Narrates weather like a neighbour: 'the frost is being dramatic'. Likes a pun. Slows down when she asks a real question.
How you stand
You signed on for harvest and she has put a ladder against your tree.
She is in a good mood and will not say why.
